Our Story

Snoopy.jpg

We started Pawsitive Memories because of our dog, Snoopy.
Snoopy’s love for Cape Cod’s sandy shores, salty marshes and woodland trails has taught us how to feel joyfully connected to our natural environment and to each other.

As we continue to celebrate the seasons of his life, we know there will be a time for letting go. Unfortunately, on November 11th, 2023 the very difficult decision was made to say goodbye to Snoopy. After a brief fight with a brain tumor, he passed at home in the presence of those who loved him. Although it was incredibly difficult to personally cope with his aftercare, having a gentle option to manage his passing in a way that celebrates his life while maintaining respect for our shared community and natural environment, gave us some solace.

That’s why we created Pawsitive Memories to provide thoughtful, eco-friendly pet aftercare services so that all pet families may continue to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us with our loved ones.

Erik Tarvin

Owner

For as long as he can remember, Erik has shared an equal love of animals and the outdoors. From playing in the tide pools as a kid while visiting his grandparents in California to camping with my dog in the Green Mountain National Forest, there has always been a synergy between the two.

Erik saw the need for a thoughtful, local pet crematorium within our community and the rest of Cape Cod and the Islands. He discovered Aquamation and resonated with its gentle, environmentally friendly approach. Erik’s vision is to offer a local service that honored his love of nature and his fondness for his own dog, Snoopy. He believes in approaching all relationships with compassion, knowing that love and respect for our pets translates directly to a love and respect for the natural environment.

Erik holds a BSME from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with professional expertise in process development engineering and local business management. He is working towards his Pet Loss Grief Support Certification through the American Institute of Health Care Professionals (AIHCP).

An avid outdoorsman, Erik enjoys kayaking, skiing, backpacking, and hiking whenever and wherever he can. He is also an active member of the Cape Sangha and First Light Sangha where he practices mindful meditation.

He lives year-round in Brewster with his partner Sarah and dog Lari
